– for the 2nd time in a row.

Great Taste, the world’s most wanted food award, which celebrates the very best in food and drink, has announced the Great Taste stars of 2019. Out of over 12,772 products sent in from over 100 different countries, the Curtice Brothers were awarded yet another Great Taste Award, which means judges dubbed it above and beyond delicious, which means the product was described by judges as extraordinarily tasty for its Organic Tomato Ketchup:

“ The flavour of the tomatoes is very honest, fresh-tasting and has a lovely richness.
There is a surprisingly pleasant balance considering the low sodium and sugar… ”
“ This Ketchup has a deeply rustic taste of tomatoes and is authentic and fresh.
The salinity, sweetness and acidity work well together… ”

Judged by over 500 of the most demanding palates, belonging to food critics, chefs, cooks, restaurateurs and producers, as well as a whole host of food writers and journalists, Great Taste is widely acknowledged as the most respected food accreditation scheme for artisan and specialty food producers. As well as a badge of honour, the unmistakeable black and gold Great Taste label is a signpost to a wonderful tasting product, which has been discovered through hours and hours of blind-tasting by hundreds of judges.

Christoph Callies, co-founder and product designer, feels “once again honoured and encouraged to be presented with this endorsement for the second time in a row” – “We knew nothing about ketchup or condiments in general when we started this project, but it seems that luck and a little bit of dedication lead us to create a product that impressed even the most distinguished clients such as the Claridge’s in Mayfair. At the moment we are expanding our product line and will be keen to submit our other creations to this ultimate test through the jury of the Great Taste award”.

Mario C. Bauer, co-founder and managing director, contemplates Curtice Brothers to evolve into an explicit hotel- and restaurant-brand while his focus is set on the European market. “We are the alternative to industry-ketchup for every restaurateur and hotelier who defines himself through quality, thus refuses to serve his steak or burger with an ordinary ketchup as many others do”. “Our ketchup is fully organic, cooked in Tuscany and contains half as much sugar and salt as the average ketchup.” Mario points out. “Our most important, tasty ingredient are the 77% fresh organic tomatoes – no concentrate, while some other brands, for instance, boast a mere 17% tomato content”.

Recognised as a stamp of excellence among consumers and retailers alike, Great Taste values taste above all else, with no regard for branding and packaging. Whether it is vinegar, granola, bacon or cheese being judged, all products are removed from their wrapper, jar, box or bottle before being tasted. The judges then savour, confer and re-taste to decide which products are worthy of an award.
